Down Under 2014 - Day 8 - Picton, NZ

Sunday, June 8, 2014

Today we made the journey from Picton to Christchurch, New Zealand. We decided to take the eastern coastal route in order to take our time and enjoy our scenic drive. Along the way we decided to pull off the road and take a short hike to visit a seal pup colony. In this particular area, there were roughly 100+ seal pups playing in a waterfall stream. They were adorable!

Then, it was back on the road to visit the larger seals in the town of Kaikora, New Zealand. After visiting the seals it was back on the road to Christchurch. Our evening activity in Christchurch was a Kiwi night tour, Ko Tane Maori Experience, and a traditional Maori meal. Zeb was excited to finally see the national bird, the Kiwi. After the evening tour we enjoyed an authentic Maori cultural experience with dances, re-enactments, and a wonderful Maori traditional meal.
